Living Safely with Electricity – Electrical Safety for Non-Electrical Workers
🏘If you are a Landlord or are planning to become a Landlord, the new Regulations which came into force on 1st June 2020 will apply to you.
🏠Landlords are now legally required to have the Electrical Installations in their domestic rented properties Inspected and Tested by an approved EICR engineer.
👨👩👧👦Landlords are also required to provide the EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) or Landlord Electrical Safety Certificate to their tenants as well as the Local Housing Authority.
👉To find out more, please, visit our EICR page. Our engineers are Approved EICR Contractors who can carry out EICR Inspections on rented properties. We will be happy to assist you.
💡Maintaining your appliances will ensure they work more efficiently and last longer;
💡💡Always clean your cookers and ovens with oven specific detergents;
💡Clean flush hobs using a cleaner designed specifically for the type of material it is made of, i.e. ceramic or metal. Special scourers can also be used to ensure the hob is clear from adhesive spillages. Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions;
💡Soak up spillages immediately to avoid liquids entering the electrical system.
Since most of us are spending more time at home now, cooking home made meals, it is important to look after your cooker/oven to ensure it lasts longer.
🌱Clean your oven/cooker regularly without using harsh detergents
💦Soak up spillages so that water doesn’t get into the electrics
👉However, if your cooker/oven does break down, please, get in touch with us. Our engineers cover many areas from Wimbledon and Putney, Kingston and Richmond, Sutton, Merton, Worcester Park, Epsom and Ewell, Letherhead and Dorking. We would be glad to assist you.
Using Domestic Oven for Commercial Purposes
🍪For customers who wish to use their domestic ovens for commercial purposes such as baking, which could mean your oven could be in use for 12-14 hours a day, we would like to inform you that your oven may only last for 6 -12 months on average before it may need some sort of maintenance.
🥘Domestic ovens are designed to be used for 2 -3 hours a day, on average, not for 12-14 hours. We often get call-outs from cafes and small private homes/start-ups complaining that they bought their ovens not long ago and that they are already experiencing problems.
😊If you wish to use a domestic oven for a start-up business, we recommend you purchase a well known brand and spend that little bit more to get longevity out of your oven.
👉If you need any advice or work done on your electric oven, please, get in touch with us – we are always glad to help.
We fitted a new hob in Wimbledon to replace a faulty old hob. Although most cookers can be repaired, some are beyound repair. If you require help with your cooker/hob, please, get in touch with us.
Fuse Boards or Consumer Units are essential parts of an electrical system. Old fuse boards with no RCD protection do not give a greater protection and need to be changed.
